Money Laundering and Account Checks

This site moves real money, so it can be a target for moving dirty money. This is what we check, what we can ask you for, and what we will do if something looks wrong.

Rules for Your Account

One account per person. Do not open a second account, and do not let anyone else use yours. An account is for your own money only: do not fund it for somebody else and do not ask a third party to fund it for you.

Deposit and withdraw using addresses you control. This service is for playing a game, not for passing funds between wallets, and an account used mainly to move money rather than to play will be closed.

Proving Who You Are

Every account must be verified before any money leaves it. You send a photograph of an identity document and a photograph of yourself holding it. A person compares them and checks three things: that the document is a real one, that the face on it is yours, and that its date of birth makes you an adult.

The check is enforced where the money is, not where the sign-up is: an unverified account cannot start a withdrawal at all. Depositing and playing are open before it, so verify early if you would rather not find out at the moment you want to withdraw. It is at verify your identity, and it is one document, once.

We can ask again. An account whose activity changes, whose documents have expired, or which we have reason to doubt can be asked to verify a second time, and withdrawals stay shut until it does.

What Else We Check

Every withdrawal is reviewed by a person before it is paid, not released automatically. Deposits are credited only once the transfer has been matched on chain. Because both sides pass a human, unusual patterns can be caught and stopped: funding an account and immediately withdrawing without playing, many accounts sharing one address, amounts that do not fit the rooms being played, or a payout address that does not match the account that funded it.

Be clear about what that is and is not. It is manual review by a person who can see the whole account and its history. It is not automated screening against sanctions or politically-exposed-person lists, and we do not claim otherwise. Where we have reason to believe an account is connected to a sanctioned party, we freeze it and report it.

What We Can Ask You For

Before approving a withdrawal we may ask where the funds came from, ask you to prove you control the deposit address, or ask you to explain activity on the account. We may hold the withdrawal while we wait. If you cannot or will not answer, the withdrawal can be refused and the account closed.

What We Will Do

We can suspend an account, freeze a balance, refuse a withdrawal and close an account where we believe it is being used for money laundering, fraud, or by somebody other than its owner. Where the law requires it, we will report the account, and we are not always permitted to tell you that we have.

What We Keep

Identity documents, the ledger, and the record of every deposit and withdrawal are kept for five years after an account closes, then destroyed. That is the period these records are normally required to be available for, and it is why closing an account does not erase its financial history. The privacy policy sets out the rest.

Age

This service is for adults. If you are under the legal age for gambling where you live, do not use it. Age is checked from the document at verification, and an account found to belong to a minor is closed and its stakes returned; winnings are not paid.

Supervision

This service operates under 2819/JAZ.

The controls on this page are the ones we operate ourselves: account rules, identity verification, and a human on both sides of every movement of money. Write to legal@azavor.com.
